Fundraising Officer

Are you passionate about saving dogs’ lives? The Canadian Animal Blood Bank Foundation (CABB Foundation) is a CRA-registered charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness to support the Canadian Animal Blood Bank. Through these efforts, the CABB Foundation helps save dogs’ lives across Canada by supporting the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality blood products and educational initiatives.

The CABB Foundation is looking for a motivated individual to:

• Develop Fundraising Strategies
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the Canadian Animal Blood Bank’s financial objectives and sustainability.
  • Identify potential donation opportunities and research new avenues to achieve annual goals, including major gift solicitation.
  • Create proposals to effectively communicate plans for raising funds and awareness of the CABB.
• Donor Engagement
  • Act as the primary relationship manager to a portfolio of individual donors, family foundations, and prospects. Cultivate and steward relationships to achieve fundraising targets and foster long-term engagement.
  • Connect with donors and fundraising volunteers on a regular basis to share news, updates, impact reports, and invitations, and provide customized correspondence and experiences.
  • Develop and maintain a recognition program for financial gifts and volunteer time.
• Event Planning
  • Organize fundraising events such as the annual Mutt and Masters Golf Classic.
  • Recruit and manage event volunteers.
• Grant Submissions
  • Research and apply for grants from foundations, government agencies, and other sources to aid the Canadian Animal Blood Bank.
• Managing Campaigns
  • Oversee the Canadian Animal Blood Bank Ambassador Program.
  • Prepare and monitor online and direct mail campaigns.
  • Identify and follow through on promotional strategies and initiatives, including the development of promotional material.
• Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare and present KPI reports at CABB Foundation Board Meetings, including funds raised to date, expenses, number of donations, average donation size, grant applications submitted, event attendance and revenue, donor feedback, and communication engagement metrics.
  • Ensure that all gifts are received following CRA guidelines and are receipted appropriately.
  • Attend CABB Foundation Board Meetings
• Collaboration
  • Work closely with the CABB Foundation Board and CABB staff to set goals to develop and execute strategic planning related to fundraising, financial donor engagement, and awareness.
  • Working with the Canadian Animal Blood Bank Administrative Assistant, assist with awareness and social media campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree: A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, organizing events, major gift solicitation, and managing a donor database.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with donors and stakeholders, including grant writing, developing press releases, fundraising communication, social media marketing, and public speaking.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and fundraising trends to optimize strategies.
• Creativity: Innovative thinking to develop unique fundraising ideas and campaigns.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all fundraising activities and reporting.
• Persistence: Determination and resilience to achieve fundraising goals.
• Knowledgeable of CRA Charity Guidelines and the Code of Professional Fundraising Ethics.

Regional Unit Manager – Halifax

The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is a not-for-profit (CRA registered) corporation that saves the lives of dogs across Canada by supplying high-quality blood products to veterinarians and by leading education in transfusion medicine. The CABB is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team in Halifax as a Regional Unit Manager (RUM). This full-time position is unique and flexible and is supported by a team of RUMs across Canada.

Do you enjoy phlebotomy? If so, you will enjoy the satisfaction of collecting a unit of blood from the jugular vein in less than 5 minutes! Do you have a love for the human-animal bond? This is essential because our much-loved donors are accompanied by their families while they donate. You will be witness to just how far a soothing voice and familiar touch can help our donors feel at ease. How about mentorship? The veterinary community is hungry for knowledge about animal blood banking and transfusion medicine. You will have the opportunity to be an information source for them.

The Canadian Animal Blood bank is looking for someone with communication, technical, and organizational skills. We need a self-starter that can multitask while recruiting donors, scheduling donor clinics, and building relationships in the community. Quality assurance is of the utmost importance and we promise to put your QA skills to use as you collect, process, and ship our products across Canada.

Principal Duties

• Engage veterinary clinics to be CABB host sites
• Schedule donor clinic dates and donor appointments using the CABB donor database
• Develop a volunteer network for your region
• Attend all scheduled blood donor clinics and be responsible for equipment set up, take down, and clean up of each clinic
• Perform jugular venipuncture collections. The CABB will provide sufficient training to enable the Regional Unit Manager to conduct all facets of their work according to CABB Standard Operating Procedures
• Liaise with donor collection sites to ensure satisfaction with CABB activities on their premises
• Process blood into components
• Package and ship customer orders in accordance with CABB Standard Operating Procedures
• Enter complete and accurate data into CABB’s NEO software in a timely manner
• Mentor and support the veterinary community in transfusion technology

Qualification Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Technician (preferred 5 years practical experience)
• Sales experience is an asset
• Motivated and able to work flexible hours as necessary, including some weekends and evenings
• Professional and responsible with exceptional interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of database software programs, spreadsheets, and general office procedures
• Drivers’ license with an insured vehicle for transportation
• Internet access. Data and databases are maintained by CABB online and employees are responsible for acquiring the reliable bandwidth necessary to access this data.
