We Need Your Help

Here at the Canadian Animal Blood Bank, we engage animal caregivers to volunteer their qualified dogs to participate in whole blood collections. The blood is collected and locally processed into components, including Packed Red Cells and Fresh Frozen Plasma.

Packed Red Cells have a very short shelf life of 35 days. Supplies need to be constantly replenished and we need your help to do that. Together, we can save dogs’ lives.

Why We Need Your Help

1

High Donor Turnover Rate

Canine donors have a higher turnover rate than human blood donors. Our donors simply don’t live as long, can become ill, age out of the program or relocate. In order to meet national blood product demand, our recruitment efforts must be rigorous and ongoing. Your help would be invaluable.
2

You Have the Furry Heroes.

There is a very good chance you know a few good dogs that could lend a paw. Did you know most people have not enrolled their dogs with us simply because they did not know there was a need for donors? Help us increase awareness and save lives by sharing our program information with your friends and family.
3

Help Critical Patients.

By supporting our program through recruitment, your efforts will impact the lives of critically ill dogs and their families. Help us give them the fighting chance they deserve by ensuring our products are available to support their care.
4

Help Your Community.

Help support hospitals and patients in your community. Our blood products are processed at centers in every province we are hosted in. Processed products are readily available to help locally before being allocated elsewhere.
5

It’s Easy!

Enrollment into our program is straightforward and stress-free. We simply ask that you complete the information request form below. Our team will do the rest. Easy peasy.

Are there perks?

Bragging rights!

Simply put, without you, CABB could not help save animal lives nationally. Your dedication to this cause is incredibly valuable and priceless.

Knowledge.

Our donors are tested for 12 blood-borne diseases every time they donate, providing you with an intimate knowledge of any endemic or pandemic areas (are you in one?)

Positive Workplace Morale

It feels great to help save lives! An infusion of positivity results when amazing people and dogs come together to help hospitalized pets nationally.

Great Community Exposure

Our donor clinics bring the community to your practice and identify you as an industry supporter. We will celebrate and recognize your support on our social media pages and website.
